Why?

This weekend J and I found ourselves asking each other why we don't do this more often. The this referring to our trip to visit my brother and his wife who live in a lovely little town where the pace of life is relaxed, the country is beautiful and the deer abound. So much so that we watched them each day eating apples out of the neighbor's tree. We arrived late Friday afternoon and visited Aunt K at the quaint little
bookstore where she works. When she'd closed the shop down she came home and served up delicious homemade apple pie. Saturday morning there was a leisurely walk across the bridge and into town for the farmer's market where we perused the tables laden with local, homegrown produce and the tents of craft vendors where the Girl was quite tickled to pick out a beaded ring adorned with a
Halloween ghost charm for just a $1. Meanwhile the guys spent the entire day, sun up to sun down, on the river fishing for steelhead. At the end of a fruitless day they headed toward the truck and decided to put in at one last spot where J struck gold and reeled in this catch, their only one of the day.
Little Sister was none too impressed.

Their was plenty of snuggle time with Aunt K, whom both Girls a-dore!!
Sunday morning the boys were back at it again (fishing) while we visited Aunt K's sister and fed her horses apples, admired
her cows and clucked at her chickens. Then it was back into town to browse the shops and pay the candy store a visit where the Girl indulged in a dark chocolate covered marshmallow and Little Sister got every bit of her face and hands sticky while enjoying a Tootsie Roll Pop.
And no trip would be complete without a warm, fresh,

icing-laden,
ooey-gooey cinnamon roll!

On the way home we stopped at this roadside attraction so that the Girl
could ring the steam engine's bell. We certainly won't let another 3 years pass before we make the trip again.
