5 Months

What?! How did this happen?! Today Baby Sister is 5 months. This most precious of gifts has been a blessing in our lives for 5 months now. The time seems to have passed in the blink of an eye! She is such a sweet-natured baby and oh those dimples...

One Crazy Chic!

This ia one fun-loving, crazy chic who was ripping through Banana Republic this evening sporting some aviator eye apparel and exclaiming, "Grandpa Fred!" and then giggling wildly. The Girl does not have a Grandpa Fred, I however, do so it would've been more fitting had she been yelling, "Great Grandpa Fred!" Unfortunately she will never know Great (and he was) Grandpa Fred as he has been gone 15 years now. But I like to think that he was looking down on us from heaven with a huge grin of his own.

Fingers and Toes

Baby Sister discovered her fingers and toes a while back but just in the past few days she seems to be more interested in them. Just pull off
her socks and she's as happy as a clam, not to mention entertained for at least 20 minutes.

Peek-a-Boo!

Where's Baby Sister?! There she is...buried beneath a pile of friends, compliments of who else... the Girl.

Daddy Daughter Dance

Saturday night the Girl and J went to a Daddy Daughter Dance. The Girl was adamant that she wear one of her Christmas dresses and she even dictated Justin's attire. He had a shirt all picked out and she told him that she didn't like it and then proceeded to select a different shirt for him to wear, nevermind that she dug it out of the hamper. They had a great time and were just one number away from winning the coveted door prize - a princess crown. The dance was just an hour and a half long but it was long enough to wear the Girl out!

Park play!

Spring is in the air...or it was for a few short days at the end of last week. The sun was shining and the skies were blue which helped to take the chill out of the crisp winter air. What better reason to head to the park?! We went Friday afternoon with friends and then again on Saturday morning with J.

Baby Sister enjoyed swinging, so much so...

...that she was lulled to sleep!

Bedbugs!

These bedbugs don't bite - they snuggle!

Sweet Girl

I so LOVE this sweet, sweet Baby Girl. Her grins melt my heart.

Remember this?

Remember this? The Girl pushed it over on its side yesterday, she and her friends climbed in with some good books and a cozy blanket and by the end of the day... ...it looked like this!
Actually there was further destruction that took place after this photo was taken. It is now much flatter and torn in several places. At one point the Girl started wailing that she wanted to put it back together. But make no mistake, she initiated the destruction and was sure having fun ripping and stomping on the walls and roof.

"Neener, neener, neener!"

This is something Baby Sister never would have been able to do if she'd not gotten her frenulum clipped. Ever since she had it done she's enjoyed playing with her tongue but up until today she never really stuck it out or at least not this far. But today she kept sticking it out and was even trying to imitate the buzzing noises that she has seen the Girl do so many times. I love that little tongue and enjoy seeing her stick it out at me. Hmmm, I may not enjoy this same gesture so much say in oh, about 13 years. Ha!

Here Fishy, Fishy.

Gramma has a fish tank and Baby Sister was quite enchanted by the little fish she was so intent upon watching swim back and forth.

Bumbo Baby!

My dear friend got this Bumbo seat for Baby Sister for Christmas. We just put her in it for the first time this past weekend and she loved it. You could see it written all over her face...sheer joy at being able to sit up like her Big Sister. It is also good exercise for building her neck muscles as we aren't very proactive about tummy-time which Baby Sister dislikes.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day from two very SWEET little Valentines!

Terds?!

This conversation occurred early this evening:

The Girl: "Momma, if I finish my dinner can I have some terds?"

Me: "What?!"

The Girl: "You know, those candies. What are they called...terds?"

Me: "Oh! You mean Nerds."

Ha, ha. Apparently Nerds (not to be mistaken with terds) were a hot Valentine candy this year as four of the Girl's classmates (which just happens to be 40% of the class) gave mini boxes out with their cards.

Little Sister

Do you like the new (or should I say, "old") song? I just had to add Elvis Presley's 'Little Sister' to the top of my playlist. The Girl and I have been singing this to Baby Sister since she was born. The Girl thinks that it is hilarious and to hear her sing it brings an instant smile to my lips. I am no stranger to the Oldies. I grew up riding around in a car that was as old as me and only had AM radio. Later, when I got my driver's license, that car (a 1978 Ford Fairmont) was mine to drive. I'd rather listen to the Oldies than drive in silence and so I know the lyrics to quite a selection of those oldies but goodies!

Valentine's Party

Today at school there was a Valentine's Day party. The Girl was eager to get home and show me all of her cards and candy (mostly the candy). In addition to exchanging Valentines, they also got to frost and decorate heart-shaped sugar cookies. Her excitement evoked old memories. As a kid, this holiday was the one I most looked forward to celebrating at school. I loved picking out that box of little cards and envelopes, addressing them to my classmates and stuffing one in everybody's Valentine holder. Receiving Valentines wasn't so bad either, neither were the cupcakes and other goodies to be had.

Part III: O Man

Meet O Man. If I had to choose just one picture to sum up his personality, this would be it. He is wild, fun-loving, carefree and full of energy. If I were his Mom, I'm not sure I could keep up with this little guy...luckily his Mom does a phenomenal job of keeping pace and taking it all in stride. He has been known to single-handedly dismantle an entire display of feather boas at Michael's Craft Store!

We've been hanging out with O for nearly a year and he is just three days older than the Girl. They play well together,
usually with O doing something boyish, such as climbing - furniture, statues, cribs (Baby Sister's to be exact), playground equipment, etc. - and the Girl timidly following. But he never leaves her behind, always waiting and offering help. Whatever they're up to, you're sure to hear plenty of gleeful shrieking.
Another thing you should know about O: he loves traveling by riding lawnmower...and he is rarely without his rain boots.

Dance Attire

Here is the attire for the Girl's dance class...a blue leotard and pink footless tights (the Girl claims that they are pants). Unfortunately there are no action photos as her class is closed to observation except for the window in the door and I didn't figure that the flash glaring off of the glass would make for a good picture. But if I was able to get a good photo you would see faint dirt spots on both knees of the pale pink footless tights as the Girl took a stumble outside just feet from the door resulting in much wailing. Not because she'd skinned a knee or was hurt but because there were black dirt marks on her tights. Nothing that a quick trip to the bathroom and a wet paper towel couldn't fix. Maybe next week I'll be able to talk her into wearing pants over her tights until we get to class. And oh yes, those spots on the tops of her feet are bandaids. She loves to wear them, oww-ies or not.

One Cool Chick

Baby Sister is a cool chick. We were at Miss A's house playing and Miss A went and retrieved all of her old toys for Baby Sister to play with and these sweet shades.
I glanced away and when I looked back Baby Sister had managed to get her glasses up on her forehead. I'm guessing that she had some assistance from the end of the rattle (the green handle can be seen in the previous pictures). So loving it!

Little Ladybug

A ladybug was discovered on the floor this morning...a very dead ladybug. The Girl got so excited about this ladybug and was certain that it was sleeping. She asked if we could keep it and then proceeded to carry it around the house eventually asking if we could make a home for it. I gave her a small plastic food storage container without a lid. In the early afternoon J took her out to ride her bike. She asked if Little Ladybug could accompany them. Later in the day her and J took a nap in our bed with Little Ladybug supposedly safe and sound in her home on the nightstand. The Girl woke up from her nap and stood on the landing with a crestfallen look upon her face. Holding out the container she exclaimed, "I can't find my Little Ladybug!" So J went back up to help her look. No sign of Little Ladybug. My poor, sweet Girl was so sad, she asked, "Mom when I find Little Ladybug can I name her Lucy?" As I write this, Lucy is still MIA and I fear that I may hear a "crunch" in the night!

Weekend Wrap Up

We had a busy, fun-filled weekend. Miss G came to town, there was a trip to Chuck E. Cheese's and Miss A joined us for a slumber party.
O and the Girl riding the Kiddie Coaster
Baby Sister's first rideWatching a movie

And finally...there was actually slumbering at this party!
