Today we went to the Fair. And just for fun, let's take a little stroll down memory lane. Here are just a few, "now" and "then" pictures.

And no, despite what it looks like, the Girl is NOT wearing the same pants. Or is she?! Hmmm...maybe those pants aren't supposed to be capri-length.

Our trip this year was very reminiscent of last year. We started off looking at the horses, although at this time last year I was carrying Baby Sister a little differently. This huge guy is Ted. Baby Sister wasn't quite sure what to think of him and by the time we took this picture I wasn't either as he'd just finished nibbling on our stroller. I was a bit nervous to have him nuzzling my arm, lest he was still hungry.

Here is the Girl holding her pants up so she doesn't get horse pee on them...we had to walk through a few puddles in the stable. And yes, for those of you who are very observant, she is wearing a different outfit than in the previous pictures. We arrived at the Fair expecting clouds, a smattering of rain and high's in the low 70's. In actuality, there was plenty of sunshine, hardly any clouds, no rain and temps in the low 80's. Thankfully, I have a child who is still prone to the occasional "accident" (Did I just say that?!) and so we had extra clothes to change into.

Baby Sister seemed to really enjoy the chickens, or at least the stuff lining their cages. Nope, she's not pointing at the chickens, she's trying to get that particle of cage fluff stuck to the green table runner.

And boy was that hard work. She was zonked by the time we left the barns.

The three big kids could hardly wait to get to the rides. Seems strange that they are now old enough to climb that big, tall staircase all by themselves up to the top of the slide. Two of us Moms were wondering if our children would be returning to the bottom via slide or stairs. Much to our relief (and surprise), all three chose to slide.

Here is the Girl riding the kiddie coaster with my friend. She'd originally been set to ride with O but a combination of events transpired, first of which was that while in line O decided he didn't want to go and secondly the Girl was maybe an inch shy of being able to ride without an adult. We thought that she could slip by unnoticed with O. Who would've thought that the carnies could be such sticklers?

The Girl was excited to see the Teacups, which was one of her favorite rides at Disneyland.

And then there was this. Here are the swings, which the girls were tall enough to ride by themselves last year and were so looking forward to riding again this year. But, apparently they've a) shrunk since then or b) the height limit has been increased in response to the economy in order to finagle more tickets out of parents who now have to ride with their children. Hmmm...I'm going with b.

So they had to settle for this and Miss A didn't even want to go. I can't say I blame her. Who wants to settle for the baby swings when you've already had a chance to experience the real thing?

I just love the crazy faces in this picture. Do you think they're having fun?

This display caught the eye of all three kiddos as we were on the way out. Something about water seems to attract them. Anyhow there were three of these soft-sided hot tubs and the Girl apparently liked this one best as she ran back to it saying, "that one comes with beer!" No doubt due to the wine bottle and glasses. Oh dear. Luckily, there weren't any other people hanging out in the area, otherwise they might've gotten a false impression of our family life. As for me and my friends, we got a good laugh out of it. Right after I took this photo the Girl proceeded to dunk her head into the water and it was decided that "now" would be a good time to leave...amidst unamused glances from the salesmen in the booth.
