Splash!

Finally! A day that actually felt like summer!! A few weeks in and today was the first day that actually had the sunshine and temps to match the season. What better way to celebrate and soak in the bright rays and warmth than to hit a nearby park with a splash pad. And soak it in they did. Naturally, the Girls gravitated toward the water bypassing the lure of the gigantic sandbox and the playground with it's
beckoning swings. The Girls by no means are strangers to this park although the last time we were here Baby Sister was just a wee one.
As the big Girls scampered around the fringe of the splash pad and into the cool mist coming from the spray of water, Baby Sister cautiously inched ever closer to the middle of the action. My absolute favorite sights from the day were definitely a) Baby Sister's ruffled bum and b) these two holding hands. No doubt having a friend and confidant (or partner in crime) by her side makes my Girl more bold in situations where
she might have a tendency to otherwise hang back and observe her surroundings first. Not to mention that it makes my heart all mushy and soft to see these two together and to know that they are creating a childhood of memories that they will someday recall years from now with such fondness. I am ever grateful for the blessing that I've been afforded to stay at home with these precious and
tenderly sweet souls so that we can have the freedom to create these memories on a daily basis. (Thank-you J for working so hard for us and for wanting the Momma of your Girls to be at home with them!) It didn't take long before all the Girls were brazenly running through the spray of the various fountains and sprinklers with the rest of the little swimsuit-clad bodies around them. Fully immersing themselves in
the showers of water and becoming completely drenched in the process! Ah, the sounds and sights of summer - shrieks of delight mingled with a few wails of itty-bitties that have fallen or been unexpectedly doused, wet hair clinging to small heads, water droplets accumulating on sun-kissed cheeks and noses, wide grins stretching from ear-to-ear, bare arms waving wildly to and fro, Mommas and
Daddies wielding cameras and laden down under the burden of overflowing beach bags, picnic baskets and tiny babies all the while maintaining a delicate balance and brightly colored beach towels adorning the periphery.

And what would a warm, sunny day be without a little sunbathing? Earlier in the day while running a few errands I picked up a straw
cowgirl hat for myself in anticipation of the bright sunny days ahead. The Girl has pretty much claimed it as her own and it
probably has spent more time on her head than on mine. Except for the time that they spent in the water area...then it was all mine.
Love these lil chunker legs and itty-bitty feet!!

Even after we got home the Girl insisted on wearing my new hat around the house.
Which convinced Baby Sister that she needed a hat of her own. Usually it's near impossible to get her to keep a hat on. We're already looking forward to more nice weather tomorrow and new adventures.
