Burnin' Rubber

Today the sun was out, the weather was gorgeous and the Girl was itching to ride her bike. So late this afternoon we hit one of our favorite local trails. It is a splendid pathway that stretches for miles and miles, lined by trees that cast long shadows creating magnificent patterns across the asphalt. As we set out, Baby Sister took the lead for just a short while until J got the Girl's helmet adjusted and she
passed us all in a whir on her bike.

The trail is relatively flat with only gentle sloping inclines which makes it perfect for a leisurely bike ride.
The Girl was enjoying pedaling as fast as she could then slamming on the brakes and looking to see the resultant white streak on the pavement of the rubber she'd just laid down.
The Girl furthered J's training efforts as he had to jog to catch up to her when she got too far ahead of us.
But inevitably, she tired of pedaling in favor of the lure of her empty seat in the double stroller and the anticipation of a snack.
Upon returning home, the Girl discovered an injured butterfly - no doubt, recently mangled by our cat.
She gingerly picked it up...

and showed it to Baby Sister who proceeded to poke at it.
The Girl eventually decided to place the poor thing in her flower garden.
