Long locks no more for the Girl. This afternoon at 2:45 her biggest desire became reality - she got her hair cut short, "to her cheeks," as she'd been petitioning her Daddy for the past several months. The appointment was made last Friday and ever since she has been giddy with excitement. So this morning when the salon called to inform me that the stylist was out sick and to ask if we could reschedule for another day I was almost sent into a panic. Luckily, there was another stylist who could fit us in which was terrific as otherwise the Girl would've been seriously disappointed. Sunny, the stylist, was great. She asked the Girl how short she wanted it and of course the Girl pointed to her cheeks. My only input was that the Girl's Daddy had requested that it not look like a "bowl cut." So with little to no direction she went to work and this was the outcome:
It was perfect, exactly what I had imagined but would've never been able to put into words. And as you can tell from the grin on her face, the Girl was pretty pleased with it too!

After getting it cut, the Girl wanted to show off her new "do" to her friend Miss A so we stopped by her house on our way home. Miss A's Mom commented that it makes the Girl look so much older. I have to agree. Of course she's still the same Girl just a more sophisticated version. Ha!

We'd braided her hair so that Daddy could have a souvenir. He was so certain that he'd cry upon seeing her without her long hair.

Here is the braid getting cut off. It was 10 inches.

The Girl waiting to be shampooed and ecstatic about her shorter hair.

Now the fine tuning portion of the cut.

After getting it blown out.
Oh and her Daddy didn't cry upon seeing her for the first time without her long hair, instead he broke into a huge grin that almost matched hers!! Tonight the Girl asked, "Am I going to bed with short hair?" Almost like she couldn't believe that it was really true. I responded, "Yep, and when you wake up it will still be short."
