{Happy} Sick Baby

It was inevitable. Baby Miss has caught her first cold and has a nasty cough. Although with a kindergartener in the house, I'm surprised Baby Miss hadn't gotten one sooner as both the Girl and Lil Sis have already cycled through a handful of colds. Lucky for us, it hasn't seemed to bother her. Really, look at that smile and those bright eyes, not what you'd expect from a baby that isn't feeling her best.

Almost Life Size

As you all know, I love me a good newborn photo session. My husband - not so much. When I brought the subject up last year before Baby Miss was born, I was met with opposition. Mostly because we did newborn sessions with the other Girls and then never did anything with the pictures. J didn't agree with spending money on photos that got tucked away into a drawer never to be seen again. Point taken. Imagine his reaction when he came home from work today to see this waiting for him. Forty by sixty inches of glorious gallery-wrapped photo canvas! Now what to do with that red wall? Hmmm...

They Say the Darndest Things!

Oh these Girls! Oh how I love them! Oh how they make me laugh! This evening the Girl called Lil Sister a "clumsy weirdo," to which Lil Sis exclaimed, "I not weirdo, I _____ (insert Lil Sis's name here)!" Then as we were eating dinner Lil Sister shouted, "Holy geez I love this!" Never seems to be a dull moment around here these days.

Because I Can

The Girl
14 weeks
Lil Sister
23 weeks

Baby Miss
16 weeks

Here are my Girls, all in the same outfit, all at a different age. J things I'm a bit fanatical about taking pics of them wearing the same outfits. I disagree. If I were fanatical, they'd all be the exact same age, to the day, in these pictures. I just do it because I can and because I like to. I think it's fun to compare. It's fun to recall how much hair the Girl had, how teeny-tiny Lil Sister was and how Baby Miss seems to be a good blend of her two older sisters.
And, in non-related news, look who discovered her thumb last night.

This One

This One has a flair for piecing together loud and crazy, funky, mismatched outfits. Rare is the occasion when her style is subdued. Two days ago she had her last ballet class, at least for a while. Said she wanted a break. I'm happy to oblige her request as I won't miss the weekly hustle and bustle of getting us all out of the house on time but I will miss watching her dance...that made up
for the hustle and bustle. This week even the My Little
Ponies, got an up close view of the action, courtesy of Lil Sister.

This One is absorbing things like a sponge at kindergarten and is now reading books to us. It is exciting to hear her sound out words and the delight that spreads across her lips when she knows that she's just nailed an entire sentence is priceless! She is always styling her own hair and more often than not, it looks pretty darn cute but stylist is not top on the list of what she aspires to be when she grows up. Nope. She has her mind made up (hopefully just for now - ha!). She's gonna be a waitress! Oh Girl, there's never a dull moment when you're around.

Funny

Love the bow gracing Baby Miss's fuzzy, stand-straight-up locks? It is compliments of the Girl who carefully positioned it just so...

Lil Sister made me laugh today when she emerged from the Rose Petal Cottage, Little Mermaid purse slung over her shoulder and announced, "I gonna run errands. See ya later!"

Tired?

We had friends over for dinner tonight. They have two kids and Baby Miss was quite content to lie on the floor and watch all the kids running around. Then I noticed how hard she was trying to keep her heavy little eyelids open. Needless to say, she eventually lost the battle despite all the activity and noise.

(Don't ya love how she's just on the floor with only a burp cloth under her head?! I never would've let the Girl lay on the floor without a blanket underneath her! Guess it is true what they say...when your first child's pacifier hits the floor you boil it until sterile before giving it back. With the second child, the pacifier hits the floor and you rinse it off with water or a wipe. When the third child's paci drops you let the dog lick it off before giving it back. Ha, ha!)

This One

Oh, this one. When she is sweet she is very sweet but when she is naughty she is very naughty. Terrible twos, maybe. Trying to be as independent as her older sister, much more likely. She is in a scaredy-cat stage of sorts. She still mentions 'Santa Closets' at least once a day and is looking for reassurance that he won't show up unexpectedly on our doorstep any time in the near future. She follows up with, "Santa Closets taking long nap in his castle." Alright, sounds good to me. She also still insists on singing Jingle Bells and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer every night before bed. Besides Santa Claus, Little Sister is frightened of every costumed character. About a month ago we were watching the noon news and they were showing a dragon for the Chinese New Year parade and she flipped - ran up to the tv turned it off while screaming, "No dragon!" and then proceeded to beg to go up to bed. When she isn't busy keeping her eye out for people in costumes or wearing hoods (hoods elicit the same reaction) she loves to wear dresses (flat-out refuses to wear pants) but doesn't like to wear tights. Loves to create with Play-Dough and play Squinkies. She does not care for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches but adores green beans. Has a mouthful of teeth (finally!) which all decided to come in at once. Still refers to herself as 'you' and whenever she wants to show me something she says, "Show me somepin, show me somepin!" On the potty-training front, oh wait, there is no potty-training front, just Lil Sis telling us when we need to change her diaper and sweetly chirping, "No ganks," when we ask her if she wants to sit on the potty. Her favorite exclamation right now is, "Holy mokes!" Oh how we love this Lil Girl!
