Tough Car, Tough Girl

A few days ago, as the Girls and I were on our way to Papa and Gramma's house the Girl and I had a little conversation that went like this: The Girl: "Mom, can I tell you something?" Me: "Of course." The Girl (pointing to a PT Cruiser in the next lane): "I really like those cars, that goldish one. It's a tough car, I'm a tough girl." Me: "Oh. What makes it a tough car." The Girl: "It just looks tough." So the rest of the way to Papa and Gramma's house we looked for and counted 'tough cars,' convertibles (which she also loves), motorcycles and smart cars. So imagine the Girl's delight this morning upon arriving at the mall to meet a dear friend from my childhood and her Mom only to discover that my friend's Mom drives a convertible PT Cruiser. Upon finding out that the Girl liked her 'tough car convertible' my friend's Mom generously offered to come pick us up this evening (after it had cooled off) and take us cruising. The rest of the afternoon and evening was spent in an highly anticipated state for the Girl as she kept checking out the window for any sign of my Mom's friend and her car in my parents' driveway. Once she arrived the Girl scrambled to find her shoes and couldn't get out the door fast enough. An hour long ride and the Girl loved every single moment of it, a dream come true!! We had a great time and I'm sure the Girl will not soon forget her ride in a 'tough car convertible.' And I will not soon forget such a sweet gesture from my friend's Mom. Thank-you S, you're the best!!
